Mary Jones' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Matthews Jones passed away in her home at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, Louisiana on Thursday, March 25, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Louis M. Jones and the mother of Jane Reed Meyer and the late Gilpin Lyman Reed.
Mrs. Jones was born June 21, 1918 in Buford, Missouri and she was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She lived all of her adult life in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member and president of the Orleans Club, a charter member of the Stuart Clan, a member of the New Orleans Fine Arts Society and was active in many civic affairs.
During her lifetime in New Orleans, Mrs. Jones was a member of Christ Church Cathedral. She transferred her membership to Christ Church Covington when she moved to Christwood Retirement Community in 1996.
There will be a private burial at the Garden of Memories in New Orleans.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday April 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden Room at Christwood Retirement Community.
