Mary Jane Dillard McCoy's Obituary
Mary Jane Dillard McCoy of Covington, Louisiana, beloved wife of Lemuel William McCoy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years. Mother of Wimberly Dillard McCoy (Carla) of New Orleans, Ashley Conner McCoy of New Orleans, Kelly Edwards McCoy Land of Mandeville. Loving grandmother of Conner McCoy, Campbell McCoy, Mary Claire McCoy, Turner Land and Mary Jane Land. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. Dillard and Lola Edwards Dillard.
Mary Jane was born on March 2, 1930. She graduated from Isidore Newman School and H. Sophie Newcomb College where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity.
She was a member of the Junior League of Greater New Orleans, the Interior Decorating Club of the Junior League, and the Covington Presbyterian Church. She served on the Board of Newcomb College and Poydras Home Board of Managers.
She was a native of New Orleans and when Lem retired, they moved to Waveland, Mississippi. There they built their retirement home which they loved. In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, they moved to Covington, Louisiana.
Mary Jane and Lem had a love affair that was inspirational and everlasting. She was devoted to her husband and family and treasured her time spent with them. She was known for her kindness and opened her arms to anyone and everyone. Mary Jane was a true joy to be around and will be deeply missed by all.
The family would like to thank all of Mary Jane’s devoted caregivers for their loving care and support.
A joint memorial service to celebrate Mary Jane and Lem will be held at Covington Presbyterian Church, 222 South Jefferson Street, Covington, LA on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, with a service at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covington Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
