Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" Burkard's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Burkard of Slidell, Louisiana, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Syracuse, New York, Mary Beth was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Enright. She graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the State University of New York, later obtaining a Master’s degree in Education.
A compassionate and dedicated registered nurse for more than 50 years, Mary Beth poured her heart into caring for patients while lovingly raising her three children and cherishing her grandchildren. She remained active in the District Nurses Association and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Slidell. On sunny days she could often be found tending her beloved garden and she treasured traveling with family, as well as caring for relatives and friends with her warm and generous spirit.
Mary Beth is survived by her adoring husband of 58 years, William F. Burkard; her three children, William C. Burkard (Brennan), Elizabeth Erwin (Joey), and Andrew Burkard (Kristina); her eight loving grandchildren, Thomas Burkard, William Burkard, Patrick Burkard, Alexandra Burkard, Nathaniel Burkard, Olivia Erwin, Claire Burkard, and Luke Erwin; and her brother John Enright (Nancy).
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Enright; her brother, Robert Enright and her grandson, Gabriel Joseph Erwin.
