Martha Murrane Jenners' Obituary
Martha “Martie” Murrane Jenners, a resident of Bush, LA, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Lakeview Medical Center in Covington following a recent series of illnesses. She was 80, born August 28, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up in Bayard, Iowa, where she graduated from Bayard High School. She attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in childhood development. Upon graduation, she worked for Better Homes & Gardens Magazine in Des Moines, Iowa, where she met Robert E. “Bob” Jenners. They wed in May 1959 and were married for 45 years before his death in 2005. Shortly after marrying they moved to Omaha and then to Louisiana in 1965 where they lived in Metairie and Mandeville. An expert in native horticulture Martie established Lynnwood Nursery there. They moved to Bush in 1987 where they were members of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jimmie Sue Jenners, Madison, Miss.; a son Dave Jenners, Bush; and two daughters and sons-in-law of Baton Rouge, Kelly and Byron Lewis and Lynn and Drew LeBlanc; four grandchildren, Robert J. Jenners of Bush, and Paul, Annie and Sydney Lewis, of Baton Rouge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Patty Murrane and Matt and Carlene Murrane; two sisters, Margaret Murrane and Marie Murrane, and one sister and brother-in-law, Madonna and Jerry Wilson, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 from 6 to 8:30p.m. Thursday, January 31st. Visitation at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Road, Covington, LA 70435 from 10a.m. Friday, February 1st , until Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Interment in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dave Jenners, Byron Lewis, Drew LeBlanc, Robert J. Jenners, Paul Lewis, and Thomas LeBreton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike and Matt Murrane.
