Martha Folds Heaton Bradford Bailey's Obituary
Martha Folds Heaton Bradford Bailey was born December 6, 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and passed away on November 11, 2016, surrounded by her children.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents, the late Audio T.H. Bradford and Mary Thelma Hourbeight Bradford. She was the wife of the late Harry Thompson Bailey, Jr. Martha and Harry were married for 49 years.
Martha is survived by her two sons, Harry Thompson Bailey III (Mary Ann), Audio Bradford Bailey (Gail), as well as, her two daughters, Lois Bailey Landry (Robert) and Bridget Bailey Massey (Bill).
She was the sister of the late Audio H. Bradford, Jr. and the late Henry Benjamin Bradford. She was also the grandmother of Susan Bailey McCay, Brooke Bailey Stuckey, Raquel Neumiller Foto, George Neumiller IV, Wayne Rauch, Bridget Landry Monistere, Kelly Landry Norsworthy, Clark Bailey, Lane Bailey Strother, Bailey Massey Browne, Britta Massey Lee, and William Massey. She is also survived by twenty-five beloved great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bailey lived and was educated in New Orleans schools, and Newcomb College. As a homemaker, Mrs. Bailey was very involved in her community, which included the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a founding member and president of Aurora Plantation Gardeners. Mrs. Bailey was an original parishioner of St. Philip Episcopal Church, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, President of the Episcopal Church Women, and an Altar Guild member for many years. Mrs. Bailey was also a former chairwoman of the Ladies Committee of the Greater New Orleans Golf Classic. She volunteered at DePaul Hospital for many years.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, Louisiana. She was very engaged in her life there and loved by all over the past twenty years.
A memorial service will be held on January 7th, 2017 at 11AM at Christwood.
