Marsha Ann Gee Cleveland's Obituary
Marsha Ann Gee Cleveland was born on June 19, 1937, in Elmira, New York, and died on February 7, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana.
Marsha grew up in Elmira, New York, where she met Milo E “Sonny” Cleveland when they attended Horseheads High School together. Milo told her that she caught his eye when she got up to sharpen her pencil one day. They started dating soon after. When Milo was sent overseas during the Korean War, they wrote to each other often, eagerly awaiting his return.
When Marsha was 17 years old, she received a box in the mail from Milo. Marsha was excited, nervous and scared when she received the box. She locked her door and closed all the curtains so that nobody saw her opening the box. She sat in the dark room and opened the box to find a beautiful engagement ring. That moment was the beginning of a wonderful lifetime of love. Marsha and Milo were married April 9, 1955, and the next 50 years were filled with joyful moments with each other and their children. Fond memories included skating at Joycrest Skating Rink a couple of times every week. Marsha was also very active in her community. She was a Cub Scout den mother and was also a chaperone for a Drum and Bugle Corp, where she was affectionately nicknamed “Marshmallow” by the kids. Marsha also loved Country Dancing with her favorite partner both on the dance floor and in life. They had a lot of fun dancing together in their fancy outfits until Milo passed away in 2005.
Marsha is preceded in death by her much loved and adored husband of 50 years, Milo Cleveland; her parents, Marshall F. Gee and Virginia Barchet Kakretz; her stepfather, Chester Kakretz; and her son-in-law, Michael Pfiffer.
Marsha is survived by her children, William Cleveland and Vickie Pfiffer; her grandchildren, Heather Cleveland, Amanda Powe (Nicholas), Megan Wetzel (Cameron), Jared Cleveland (Schuylar), Tiffany Cleveland, Michael Pfiffer, and Lindsey Bradley (Greg); 13 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Marsha’s life on March 22, 2025, at 12:00pm at St. Timothy on the Northshore, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, Louisiana. All are encouraged to wear pink as it was Marsha’s favorite color.
