Marilyn Vetter Murray's Obituary
Former Covington resident, Marilyn Vetter Murray, joined her husband, Donald Patrick Murray, in heaven on November 28^th , 2007 after a courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born on July 21, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, Marilyn was the eldest child of Eleanor and Erwin F. Vetter, St. Louis District Attorney. She graduated from Ladue High school and attended the University of Missouri where she met her future husband and love of her life.
She and Don moved to Covington in 1963 to raise their family in the beautiful Tchefunta Country Club Estates in which they were both active community members. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Marilyn was an avid gardener, and also enjoyed golf and tennis, but was most happy when she could “fuss” over her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn was known for her loyalty, strong will and determined support of causes and principles important to her, without regard for popular sentiment or convention. She never forgot the birthday or anniversary of anyone she considered a friend. Those who truly understood her distinctive approach to life will miss her unique and enthusiastic personality. Marilyn was special in so many ways.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Donnalynn Dolan, Carolynn Horby, and Gwendolynn Kastner all of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Brittany Horby, Casey Horby, Hunter Horby, Murray Kastner, Tyler Kastner, Megan Dolan, Kevin Dolan and Chris Dolan as well as her sister, Ellen Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia. A private family memorial service will be held in Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
