Marie Reid Hester's Obituary
Marie R. Hester passed away on Friday, July 27, 2007 in Covington, LA. She was born August 20, 1929 in Carrollton, GA to the late Dewey and Dolly Kilgore Reid and has been a resident of Mandeville for the past 31 years.
She was the loving wife of 49 years to Frank R. Hester; mother of Patti Hester of Pensacola, FL; Laura H. Rogers of Mandeville; Suzanne H. Brockhaus of Rowlette, TX and Donna H. Hill of Covington. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara R. Smith of Hollywood, CA and five grandchildren: Sarah and Grace Rogers of Covington, Andrew Hester of Pensacola, Matthew Brockhaus of Rowette and Alexander Hill of Covington.
Marie has been a dedicated member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church from the time the small congregation gathered for worship in a warehouse near Fairway Dr. In the 70’s and early 80’s, she was active in the real estate industry and was a Welcome Wagon hostess for many years, greeting newcomers to the Mandeville area. Most recently she was an avid Bridge enthusiast who loved coordinating ladies and couples Bridge at Covington Country Club.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM from St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70448. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and friends are invited for lunch at the Church following Services. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington in charge of arrangements.
