Marguerite Duracher McGovern's Obituary
Marguerite Duracher McGovern passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009.
Beloved sister of Gertrude “Trudy” Lamar and numerous nieces and nephews. For a fortunate few she was loved as a second mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. McGovern; her father, John Duracher; her mother, Angella Cassaly Duracher; and four brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Sterling and Edward Duracher.
Age 93 years, she was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Mandeville, LA for most of her life. An avid New Orleans Saints fan, she was employed by Allen Parker Finance in New Orleans for some 50 years; then was employed as a Clerk with the City of Mandeville for 25 years. At her retirement party in April 2003, she was given a key to the City of Mandeville, and the Day was known as Marguerite McGovern Day.
Friends, Employees of the City of Mandeville, Members of Our Lady of the Lake Altar Society and the Mandeville Boating Association are invited to attend a Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448.
Visitation AT THE CHURCH will be on Wednesday and will begin at 9:30 AM.
Interment will follow in Lakelawn Park Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA.
