Margaret Doris Toups Trahan's Obituary
Margaret Doris Toups Trahan passed away peacefully at Forest Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Covington, Louisiana, on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Margaret, affectionately known as Doris, was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Folsom, LA and Covington, LA for over 39 Years. She graduated from Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in New Orleans, LA and enjoyed a nearly 50-year career as an Accounts Receivable Clerk.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, employee, and friend. She was an athlete who played competitive volleyball in her youth, a musician who played the accordion, and an outdoor sportswoman who loved to fish with her husband and family and repair fishing gear. Over the years, she was a devout parishioner at Sacred Heart in Mid City, St. Agnes in Jefferson Parish, St. Matthew's in River Ridge, and St. John's in Folsom.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph "Leland" Trahan, and her parents, Pierre Toups and Marie Antoinette Champagne. She is survived by her only brother, Lenard Peter Toups (Janice), and her devoted sons, Michael P. "Mike" Trahan, David Joseph Trahan, Sr., and Bruce John Trahan (Becky), her grandsons, Christian David Trahan (Alicia), Cory Daniel Trahan (Lori), David Joseph Trahan, Jr. (Courtney), Colin Douglas Trahan (Jessica), Chandler Duane Trahan (Stephanie), and granddaughters, Claire Dawn Trahan, Brynn Rose Trahan, and Mercy Caroline Trahan, her 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were private. Interment took place at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Covington, LA.
