Margaret “Peggy” Virginia Burkett Jenkins went home to be with her husband and her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of 66 years to the late Wilson Jenkins. Loving mother Brenda Kay Jenkins Koppenol (and the late Jerry, Sr.), Kathy June Jenkins McLain (Randall), Janet Ellen Jenkins Burt (Randy) and Lynn Jenkins Stilwell (James). Peggy was a cherished member of the Lee Road community and a long-time member of both Shepherd’s Fold and Shepherd’s Care Ministries. She was an active member of the choir, food ministry team, and Sunday school staff for both churches. She spent countless hours working on Christmas cantatas, preparing and delivering food to those in need, and teaching others to love Jesus. She was the spiritual leader to her family and spent a large portion of every single day praying for each member individually. She was known for her amazing Sunday dinners, where everyone knew the door was always open. She loved nothing more than cooking for her family and friends. In addition to being an active member of the church and community, she also drove a school bus for St. Tammany Parish School Board for 25 years. She touched countless lives through her service to the school system, community and her church.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral services at Shepherd’s Care Ministries, 20115 Hwy 1081, Covington, LA 70435 on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 12:00 noon with visitation at church on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in J.M. Fussell Cemetery.
