I have admired a painting of what Im pretty sure is you as a 10 year old little girl and finally received it as one of my most favorite Christmas presents in the history of ever. Margaret was a sweet lady. I have fond memories of singing with her in St Peter's choir in the late 90's when we moved back to Louisiana from Texas where my husband had retired from the Air Force. We went to Rome and sang for the Pope with Amy Bonte in 2000 I think it was. She invited me to her house to watch Mardi Gras parades pass by. She was always so kind and so funny. I wish I had kept more in touch with her. I know she is in heaven. God bless you all! Mimi Brooks
Dear Miss Margaret: I was your neighbor for only a few years. I moved to Covington from Hawaii almost five years ago. I will never forget my first Christmas Day here. I was walking my dogs Nawiliwili Nelson and Sinbad and heard you yell from your back porch: MELE KALIKIMAKA! Hearing "Merry Christmas" in Hawaiian was such a special memory and welcome to Louisiana. Wili, Sinbad and I loved visiting with you. Your house-- the "Claiborne Cottage"-- is still filled with your warm, positive and feisty energy.
