Malinda Barber West's Obituary
Malinda Barber West, beloved artist and homemaker, entered into the kingdom of heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on the 28th of November at the age of 89. She was born August 8, 1934. A native of New Orleans and resident of Covington for 35 years. She loved everything about New Orleans especially the food. She was an artist who specialized in oil and acrylic paintings. Her artwork ranges from portraits to swamp scenes. Her paintings are spread around town from local doctor’s offices to family, friends, and those she loved. She was an incredible homemaker, and an extraordinary cook. She devoted her life to her family. It gave her great joy to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loving caregiver to her son Bill for many years. Malinda is survived by her children, Sky Dixon, Bill West, and Mike West; her grandchildren, Ara Porche(Ernie), Jerry West, Catie West, and Nick West; great grandchildren, Tre Porche, Dylan Porche. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul West; parents, Kent Barber and her mother, Anna Hall Day and her lifelong best friend Joanne Grace.
She also leaves behind her friends of 50 years (Carolyn, Gayle, Peggy, Charlene). What started out as an art group Malinda formed, would quickly become a family. She always looked forward to her times spent with them, especially their annual Christmas party. The West family would like to thank these amazing women for walking with her through many ups and downs up until her final days. She cherished and loved each one of you. She will be dearly missed by many.
A private interment was held at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, La.
