Makayla Elizabeth Bonura's Obituary
Makayla Elizabeth Bonura passed away on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at the age of 16. She was born on December 2, 2004 and was preparing to enter her junior year at Mandeville High School. Makayla is survived by her mother, Jenna (Miller) Bush and husband Peter; her father, Jace M. Bonura and wife Laura. Makayla was the beloved sister of Brooke Rebaldo, Mia Bush, Scarlett Bonura, and Jace Bonura, Jr. She was the beloved granddaughter of maternal grandparents, Anita and Paul Miller and paternal grandparents, Kay and Dale Bonura. Makayla was the loving niece of Paul and Elizabeth Miller, Jaron and Emily Miller, Lauren Combel, Allyson Pardue and Brian Wilson, and Jennifer and Ethan Perry. She was an adoring cousin to Paul III, Caroline, Blake, Margaret, Nathan, Amelie, Elise, Alexander and Abigail. She is also survived by a host of other family members and friends who loved her beyond belief. She is preceded in death by her great grandmother Madeline Miller and her uncle Chris Combel.
Makayla had the biggest heart. She would give you the shirt off her back, or her last five dollars if she thought you needed it more than she did. She was thoughtful beyond her years, and she had the gift of written word. She knew what to write or send in a text that made you feel so loved and appreciated. She was a great friend. She was funny. Man, could she make you laugh. She had an infectious spirit, and you couldn’t help but be happy when she was around. She loved listening to music and making TikTok’s with her family and friends. Makayla’s life was just getting started. She was thriving at her new job, had just gotten a car and was so excited to start the next chapter of her life.
Most importantly, Makayla was the best sister. She was nurturing, loving and caring with all her siblings. She made them each feel uniquely special. The time she devoted to cultivating her relationships with each of them will be her greatest legacy. She will live forever not only in the hearts of everyone who loved her, but especially in the hearts of her sisters and brother. Makayla was taken from us far too soon and she will be missed with every breath that we take until we meet again.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
