Lynette J. Fitzmorris' Obituary
Lynette J. Fitzmorris, age 80, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1945, in Covington, Louisiana.
She is survived by her siblings, Wallace H. Fitzmorris, Lois E. Fitzmorris, Sandra Fitzmorris Sharp, and James Fitzmorris, and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy E. Fitzmorris and Rachel Sharp Fitzmorris; and her sister, Shirley Fitzmorris McCann.
Lynette devoted her life to family, friends and her work. Before finishing high school, she started working at Burns Ben Franklin. She then worked at Himel Auto Parts, Bell South and St. Tammany Parish Hospital, from where she retired. She loved all her jobs where she met and befriended many people along her way. She took charge of caring for her mother until her mother's death.
She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (now New Life Community Church). After retirement she enjoyed singing with Celebration Singers and attending Young at Heart activities at First Baptist Church of Covington. She also loved to travel, especially in the western states and the mountains.
Christmas was Lynette’s favorite holiday for which she “totally" decorated her home to honor the birth of Jesus and hosted her family and friends for a very special meal. Ironically, this was the day she went to meet Jesus face to face.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at New Life Community Church, 20116 Highway 1081, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in the adjacent Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
