Lucie St.'s Obituary
Born August 8, 1913, peacefully passed away, on Saturday July 26, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Lucie, still vital and active, would have been 95 years old this August.
Lucie was a remarkable, self sacrificing, spiritually motivated woman who met every one of her life's challenges head on, with strong convictions of meeting her responsibilities, and doing the "right" thing.
She operated the Lucie Shoppe in Harahan, La., for over 20 years. Then, after retiring from Loyola's Office of Human Relations, she went on to graduate from Loyola University earning a BS in Liberal Arts in 1980 at the age of 67. She loved learning, enjoyed intellectual conversations, and the pursuit of all knowledge. She traveled extensively to the European countries seeking first hand knowledge of the cultures, life styles and antiquities she so loved.
For the past 6 years, Lucie, with declining vision, continued to independently care for herself while a resident at Rouquette Lodge in Mandeville, La.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver William St.Pe Sr., and her son Oliver William St. Pe Jr. She is survived by her loving children Philippi Pierre St. Pe, Suzanne St. Pe Keegan McLellan, Renee St. Pe Allen and Andree St. Pe Laubscher along with eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mawmaw. She and her only surviving sibling, Richard Antoine Philippi enjoyed a very close relationship throughout their lives.
Our Beloved Lucie, a devout Catholic had such a strong sense of character, morals and integrity; we, her family, count her as one of our blessings, will miss her always, but will draw solace and pleasure in all the little parts of her she left behind, in each one of us.
Friends are welcome to join us for visitation at 12:30 p.m. followed by her funeral mass to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday, July 30th, at the St. Joseph Abby, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, La., 70457.
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, LA has been entrusted with arrangements.
