Louis Terranova, Jr.'s Obituary
Louis Terranova Jr. was welcomed into eternal happiness on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008.
Louis, a devout Catholic who had an affinity for cooking, was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Terranova Sr. and Margherita Monteleone Terranova. His longtime loving companion, Nathalie Smith, will miss Louis’ generosity, kindness, wit, sense of humor, and most of all, his endless love. “Luigi,” as he is fondly remembered by many, had a special place in the hearts of William Hawayek, Melissa Hawayek, Lisa Giardina and Sharon Ann Smith.
Louis was born in New Orleans on April 10, 1932. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and Delgado Junior College. He devoted 33 years of his life to Charity Hospital in New Orleans, working in the maintenance department. He was a member of Bienville Assembly No. 314 Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree; Cardinal Gibbons Council 2918 Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree; the International Order of Alhambra Darro Caravan No. 29 and the Contessa Entellina Society.
The family extends its loving and heartfelt gratitude to Andrea Couturie, a nurse who helped Luigi pre-Hurricane Katrina and who became more like a family member; and the staff at Central Home Health, especially nurse Carmen Viada and physical therapist Jennifer Barousse.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday at noon at St. Anselm Church in Madisonville.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m.
Burial is at Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the St. Anselm Church Building Fund.
