Lorraine Brockhaus Guidry's Obituary
In a very peaceful death, we have lost our earthly best friend and the “rock” of our family, but heaven has gained a new angel. Lorraine is now receiving her reward of eternal life with God, Jesus and our Mother Mary accompanied by all the angels and saints. She loved us all so devotedly and so deeply and loved so many others whether they were strangers, friends, students or parents. We thank God for our constant and our continued prayer warrior and for this beautiful blessing of a lady who befriended anyone who needed a friend or just needed a charitable, kind ear. She touched so many lives and the beautiful memories of her will live on forever in our hearts and minds. She will be so severely and deeply missed until we reunite again.
Lorraine lived a joyful, Christ-filled life and inspired many people in her personal life and in her business life. She spent her life from the early years thoroughly enjoying the art of dance and dancing her heart away. At two years old, her mother enrolled her in dancing, under the direction of Marie Laurent Lasseigne, where she would stay well into adulthood. Later, She went on to open up her own dance studio, Hopkins School of Dance, where she was the director, choreographer and dancing instructor extraordinaire for 25 years until her retirement in 2005. She had a special ability to transform students and parents, both physically and spiritually.
Lorraine was also active in her Catholic community as a facilitator for Lord Teach Me to Pray, The Ignatian Study Course, as a member of Magnificat, Metairie and Life In The Spirit, she served as a docent at St. Joseph Abbey and before relocating to Covington, she was a very active parishioner on many committees in the parishes of Our Lady of Divine Providence and St. Mary Magdalen.
