Lois B Wager's Obituary
Lois B. Wager, age 84 of Madisonville, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020. She was born on November 25, 1935 in New Orleans, La. to Charles J. and Ida J. Barletto.
Lois married her loving husband, Andrew L. Wager Jr., a school bus driver, in 1956. She worked as a lunch aid at Madisonville Elementary for 19 years. They were married for 49 years- spreading love, kindness and warm smiles to the children of Madisonville. When they weren’t serving their community at school, they could be found serving Jesus at Midway Baptist Church in Bedico.
Whether belting out a hymn in church at the top of her lungs or making up silly songs for her children, Lois loved to sing. Even in the last years of her life when her mind started to fail her, her voice never did. She was also known for her delicious, authentic home cooking- which her grandsons’ wives will never be able to replicate or truly live up to. When she wasn’t dishing out amazing food or making funny comments that would leave an entire room full of people in stitches, she was providing a warm lap, a comforting hug, an insightful word, or a prayer that would make you feel closer to heaven with just her words.
She was a fierce Christian whose love for her family was rivaled only by her love for Jesus. She was a strong, selfless woman who put aside her own fear or insecurities to ensure that you felt protected. She would stop in her tracks to pray for you, not just any prayer, but one that made you feel her love, and the love and hope in Jesus. God sends very few people to this earth that have the qualities of Lois, and our families have been very blessed to have her as our Mother, Grandmother and Great.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, and parents Charles and Ida Barletto.
Lois is survived by her beloved children: Andrew Wager III, Charlotte Milton (Bobby), Geralyn Robert (Gerald), Ida Albin (Lance), grandchildren: Caleb Milton, Cali Milton, Cody Milton, Scott Robert, Bryan Robert, William Andrew Wager, Tyler Albin, and Ryan Albin, and 14 Great grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister Joyce Truxillo.
Due to our country’s unfortunate state of affairs with COVID-19, graveside services at Wager Cemetery will be held privately. The Wager family invites you to share thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at the E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
