Lois Kaiser Law's Obituary
Lois Kaiser Law, 97, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in San Rafael, California. She was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska, on September 24, 1927, to Herman Kaiser and Charlotte Schipporeit Kaiser.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Kathryn DeLaitsch of Houston, Texas, Charlotte Villalba and husband Kevin of Kyle, Texas, and Betsy Snyder and husband Glenn of San Rafael, California; her six grandchildren, Beth DeLaitsch of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mark DeLaitsch and wife Elizabeth of Lincoln, Rhode Island, Lisa DeLaitsch Simmons and husband Jason of Houston, Texas, Chad DeLaitsch of Houston, Texas, and Reid and Grey Snyder of San Rafael, California; and her six great-grandchildren Lane and Alexis San Miguel of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Emma Blackburn of Houston, Texas, and Dylan, Ellie, and Jocelyn DeLaitsch of Lincoln, Rhode Island.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 60 years, John Law; her three sisters, Margaret Uehling, Halcyon Schipporeit, and Doris Lucht; and her son-in-law, David DeLaitsch.
Lois grew up on a farm near Ainsworth and graduated from high school there. She was working as a secretary when she met John who was employed with the U.S. Geological Service. They married on September 19, 1948. After their marriage, John completed his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in 1951 and accepted a position with The California Company, now Chevron. John and Lois packed up their two daughters and moved to Louisiana. They spent many years living in such exotic places as Ferriday, Lake St. John, Gretna, Venice, Algiers where Betsy was born, Lafayette where Kathryn and Charlotte finished high school, and finally Mandeville/Covington where Betsy finished high school and John retired in 1986.
Lois had a very active social life. She and John played golf, traveled to many parts of Europe and the United States with friends, and each were a member of a Mardi Gras Krewe. Lois enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, and cheered for her favorite teams or any team that was smart enough to draft players from LSU. One highlight of her sports obsession was when her family treated her and her daughters to a weekend in Chicago and a visit to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs, who fielded many former LSU players.
Lois and John also hosted many family holiday gatherings at their home in Covington. Lois (known as “Lolo” to her grandchildren) would spend many days cooking and preparing baked goods for everyone to enjoy as they arrived from various parts of the country. Lois was also very active in her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran.
After John’s passing in 2009, Lois eventually moved to the Aldersly Retirement Community in San Rafael, California. She again became very active with friends and got involved in all things “Aldersly.” She was also able to enjoy and watch her two youngest grandchildren grow to adulthood and prepare her special dishes of roast beef and German Chocolate Cake for them as she had done for her older grandchildren. Lois lived at Aldersly from 2011 until her death.

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day or the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13 (KJV)
God looked around His garden
And found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace be thine"
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
