Loanne Ruth Ibele's Obituary
Ms. Loanne Ruth Ibele of Covington, LA entered into the gates of Heaven on October 1, 2024. She was born to Emile Ibele and May LaBarthe Ibele in December 1934. She was their only daughter, having two older brothers, Warren and Emil. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Emil.
Loanne was a native of New Orleans and worked as a social worker. She held a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Lutheran College and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University. Loanne was proud of her work, and she noted that she had coordinated a pilot program which led to a diagnostic unit being established within a New Orleans juvenile detention facility.
In addition to her work, Loanne loved to travel. She traveled to Europe, England, Mexico, the British Isles, Germany, Switzerland, and Honduras, plus trips to cities she loved across the United States. Loanne never married, but she always had special dogs that she loved and kept her company. She told her former classmates at the 50th anniversary of her graduation from Texas Lutheran College that her hobbies were “gardening, reading, and walking, with my dog of course.”
A lifelong Lutheran, Loanne was active at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Hosanna Lutheran Church. She loved to listen to hymns and classical music, having an impressive collection of records.
Loanne is survived by her brother, Warren Ibele, and nine nieces and nephews. She was a bright spot in everyone’s life and will be greatly missed.
