Lisa Mathies Hernandez's Obituary
Lisa Mathies Hernandez, a loving and compassionate mother of three girls, passed away March 20, 2024. She was born and raised in Covington, Louisiana. Lisa spent most of her adult life living in Ponchatoula, LA where she raised her daughters.
Lisa leaves behind her pride and joy, Illyanna Hernandez, Olivia Hernandez Kranz (Tyler) and Aeryn Hernandez and her sister April Szalajeski (Dana). She is also survived by her uncle Donald Mathies (Patty), and aunts Karen Kety (Temo), Barbara Mathies and Irma, “Betty” Mathies along with numerous cousins.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Mathies Jr. and Belinda Cedotal Mathies, paternal grandparents Joseph Mathies Sr. and Patricia Mathies as well as her maternal grandparents Raymond Cedotal and Dorothy Cedotal.
After graduating from Fontainebleau High School, Lisa attended Delta Community College, where she completed the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program. Lisa was employed by St. Tammany Pediatrics where she loved working with young children.
Besides spending quality time with her girls, Lisa was an avid reader and one of her favorite book series was Harry Potter. She would visit Universal Studios every chance she could, spending hours at the Harry Potter themed areas. She also enjoyed visiting Disney World.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 9:00am until service time. Interment will follow at the Abita Springs Cemetery, 12th and St. Joseph Streets, Abita Springs, LA. All are invited to share in our love for Lisa.
