Linda Windecker Taylor's Obituary
Linda Windecker Taylor passed away on November 15, 2022, in Mandeville, LA. She was born on January 13, 1950 in Hammond, LA to the late Garrett William Windecker and Evelyn Jones Windecker.
Linda was the beloved wife of Teddy James Taylor for 51 years. She was the loving mother of Ryan Taylor (April) and Todd Taylor (Christy). Linda was the proud grandmother of Reagan, Gavin, Justin, Brogan, Dalston, Taytum, and Bryden; great-grandmother of Camila and Aaleyah. She was the sister of Joan W. James (Michael), Patricia W. Taylor (William), and Debra W. Sciortino (Gasper).
The first born of her parents, Linda grew up with her three sisters in the swampland of Manchac, LA. In 1959 the construction of the I-55 Interstate bridges forced the family to relocate to Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Linda attended St. Joseph Catholic School until the 4th grade, then entered the Ponchatoula Public School System. She graduated from Ponchatoula High School in 1968. Upon graduation she was accepted into the Seventh Ward School of Radiologic Technology, where she achieved her Radiologic Technologist Certification in 1970. It was during her clinical rotations that she met Ted Taylor.
Linda married Ted on June 12, 1971, in the St. Paul High School campus chapel and moved from Ponchatoula to Covington, Louisiana. On November 11, 1972, the couple welcomed their firstborn son, Ryan Hayes Taylor; and fifteen months later on February 12, 1974, their second son, Todd Christian Taylor, was lovingly welcomed to their family.
In order to spend more time with her sons at home, Linda put her career as a Radiologic Technologist on hold until her boys were of school age. She took positions in the Religion Reading Center at St. Paul High School, and in the front office of St. Scholastica High School so that she could have holidays and summers off with them.
In 1982, Linda returned to her profession as Drs. Louis Matta’s X-ray Technologists. A few short years later that position would evolve into her becoming the X-ray Technologists for Dr. Mark and Roch Hontas of Tulane Orthopedics. Linda would remain with them for the remainder of her career, retiring in 2009.
Linda loved to tell stories of her childhood growing up in the swamp and her life in Ponchatoula. She dearly loved her parents and three sisters and visited them as often as she could. If she was unable to visit in person, she was sure to call to check in.
Linda read voraciously. Her favorite books were those by authors, Robert Ludlum, Dick Francis, and Tom Clancy. She spent many, many hours in her yard, tending to her plants and flowers. She loved horses, drawing, journaling, and her beloved dogs.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother that will leave an unfillable void in our hearts and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, November 21 at 12 Noon with visitation from 9:00 AM until Mass time. Interment will follow the service at Ponchatoula City Cemetery, Ponchatoula, LA. Please Share a Memory on the Tribute Wall at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
