Linda Gayle Hughes Chavers' Obituary
Heaven gained an angel on June 25, 2026, when Linda Gayle Chavers passed away after a courageous battle with COPD, emphysema, and cancer. She was born on December 12, 1951, in Tylertown, Mississippi.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Prentiss Hughes and Mary Frances Hughes, and by her beloved husband, J.W. Chavers. She is survived by her son, Corey
Gayle loved her family and friends with all her heart. She was the kind of person who would put the needs of others before her own without hesitation. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help those around her were constants throughout her life. She possessed a rare gift, the ability to make people forget their troubles, and to give hope to those facing difficult times. And no one will ever forget her love of fashion and perfume, especially all things Chanel.
As her son, I will forever cherish the lessons she taught me. She showed me how to be strong when life becomes difficult, to be there for others when needed, how to persevere when obstacles seem impossible, and how to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Because of her, I developed a lifelong love of sports, music, dancing, and simply enjoying the time you have with others. She was a light wherever she went, and comfort to those around her.
While our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her strength, love, and the lessons she shared will remain with us forever. Though the world feels a little dimmer without your light in it, your love, memory, and spirit will continue to guide us every day.
You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Tylertown, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
