Your mother, grand mother, and great grandmother will be surly missed. As one of her first cousins I'm sorry I did not get to know her well. We always thought of her with love. Her ancestors the Carbo's came to Louisiana from the Canary Islands. Actually on the first Spanish boat after the King of France bestowed Louisiana to his cousin the King of Spain sometime in 1758. They were soldiers and oxen trainers. They were sent to protect the new dominion from the dreaded British, and used the oxen to harvest the vast forest of cypress. Her ancestors also fought during the American Revolution. On the side of Spain to keep the British from flanking the Continental Army at the battles of Jacksonville, Mobile, and Biloxi. As settlers of Saint Bernard Parish, I'm sure they were also instrumental in the Battle of New Orleans in 1814. Her Father and I worked together on the railroad he was an engineer, at times I was his brakeman. We shared a lot of good times. I wish that for her, now that they are united in heaven. May we all join them some day in glory.
