Leon Henri Ferrier III's Obituary
Leon Henri Ferrier, III died in Covington, LA on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born in New Orleans, LA on January 4, 1929. He was the beloved husband of Carolina Henriette Kusters of Rotterdam, Holland. He was the loving father of Annette F. Hays (Greg) of Atlanta, GA and John N. Ferrier of Budapest, Hungary. He is survived by five grandchildren: Elizabeth Ferrier, Stephen Ferrier, Greg Hays, Jr., Caroline Hays and Henry Hays all of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by three sisters: Mignon F. Parker (Tommy) and Claire F. Stahel (Harry) of New Orleans, LA; Marcelle Ferrier of New York, NY; and eighteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the his oldest son, L. Henri Ferrier, IV (Nancy); his parents, Augusta (“Minette”) Menard wife of and Leon Henri Ferrier, Jr.; two brothers: Rev. Francis V. Ferrier, S. J. and Edouard M. Ferrier (Catherine); and two sisters, Minette F. Verhunce and Marguerite F. Smith (Leonard).
Leon graduated from St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, MS and Loyola University in New Orleans, LA. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company after 40 years of employment. He was a former president of the Covington Rotary Club. He was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Covington and a member of the American Legion of Covington.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Ferrier family tomb in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Fr. Patrick Wattigny officiating.
Leon lived for and loved his family. We will miss him.
