Lela Magee Rogers' Obituary
Lela Magee Rogers passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the age of 103. A native and lifelong resident of St. Tammany Parish, she was born to Selina King Magee and Philip Magee on October 3, 1914.
The beloved wife of the late Aswell J. Rogers, she is survived by two daughters - Rita R. Taylor and Iris R. Rumick; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter - Marilyn R. Galloway; her son - Gary E. Rogers; two brothers - Wiley and Merton Magee; and two sisters - Klea Mae Keating and Bernice Bankston.
Ms. Lela loved cooking and crafts. For many years she helped cook and deliver meals for the sick in the community. She loved to quilt, shop for new fabrics, and attend craft shows with her friends. She was a dedicated member of Shepherd's Fold and Shepherd's Care Ministries.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 23, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday.
Interment at Barker-McManus cemetery will immediately follow services.
