Leighella Jane Warren La Forte's Obituary
Leighella Jane Warren La Forte passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, September 28, 2017. She was born on Tuesday, September 28, 1943 to Clara Mattson and Paul Archie Warren. She grew up in Kenner, LA. and lived most of her life as a resident of Metairie.
A loving daughter, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter - Shelley La Forte Dupuis, and son-in-law - David; three grandsons - David Parker, Preston and Kyle Dupuis; two brothers - Paul E. and James V. Warren(Jocelyn), and one half sister Christa Warren Belesimo. She is also survived by a small extended family and cherished friends. Her parents preceded her in death.
Jane was a graduate of East Jefferson High School, and attended Southeastern Louisiana University where she was a member of AOII Sorority. She spent many years as a dedicated legal secretary and was known for her exceptional work ethic. Her family was her life, and she loved them with all her heart. Jane had many new and lifelong friends. Those who were blessed to have known her, knew she would hold them dear and would be loyal and kind to them to the very end. After Jane retired she enjoyed spending her time with her precious grandsons, playing with her beloved dogs, Teddy and Cocoa, and being involved with such organizations as Animal Helper New Orleans Rescue, and was an online host and great advocate for Quitnet, which is an International support group that assists people in their efforts to quit smoking. Her service in this was an incredible inspiration and support to many. Jane was a warrior and true example of strength, having fought a tireless battle to overcome Breast and Esophageal Cancer. In the end, Jane lost her fight to Pancreatic and Liver Cancer. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her kind, loving, and generous soul.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours on Wednesday will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens (adjacent to the funeral home) will immediately follow the memorial service.
