Lecia Douglas "Doug" Sharpe's Obituary
Lecia Douglas “Doug” Sharpe, 84, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by loved ones on the 14th day of February, 2025. He was born to Lecia Bienville Sharpe and Laura Celestine “Tina” Williams in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 17, 1940.
He is survived by his loving children: Michael Sharpe, Joseph Sharpe (Christine), Joshua Sharpe (Rachel), Mary Sharpe Goss (Clint) and Elizabeth Sharpe Gomes. He was the proud grandfather of Timothy and Christine Gomes (D.J.); Clare, Annie, Peter and Lucy Goss; and Ryder, Bayla, Zayn, and Wesley Sharpe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His beloved wife of 45 years, Judith Ann Barbour Sharpe, and parents preceded him into God’s heavenly kingdom.
A resident of Bush, Louisiana for over 40 years, Doug patriotically served in the United States Army as a Major and Vietnam Veteran. He was honorably discharged on July 8, 1982. In addition to his time valiantly serving our country, he was an outstanding, well-respected pharmacist who dedicated his time and talents to aiding those in need for over 50 years.
Doug was intelligent and loving, always willing to give medical advice or a witty joke to anyone in need. He enjoyed watching Westerns and reading profusely; however, his true passion was spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His kind, quiet spirit will live on in his children and grandchildren as well as in the many memories of his friends and family until they meet again.
The Sharpe family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Egan Hospice Care and Brookdale Senior Living Center.
