Lawrence "Cotton" Jourdan's Obituary
Lawrence "Cotton" Jourdan passed away on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 at the age of 79.
Beloved husband of 56 years to Iris Spinks Jourdan. Loving father of Robin Smith and Misty and Scott Appe; grandfather of D. J. and Luke Appe, Charlie, Cole and the late Cade Smith. Son of the late Ellis and Mamie Jourdan. Brother of Donis Jourdan Jenkins, Shirley Jourdan Gottschalk Watkins, J.B. Jourdan, Arlene Jourdan Coltora and the late Junior Jourdan, Charles Jourdan and Estele Jourdan Hrivnak. Loving Brother-in-Law, Uncle, Great Uncle and Great-great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Cotton, a lifelong resident of Folsom, Louisiana, is a retired Captain of the Covington Police Department of 25 years and was currently employed by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. He was serving in his 19th year (May 1995) on the WST Electric Coop Board of Directors as well as the Louisiana Electric Cooperatives Board. He has been active in local Little League football and baseball associations all of his adult life where he touched the lives of many young people.
He was a proud alumni and avid supporter of Covington High School Football. He was a member of the St. Tammany Parish Livestock Association and the St Tammany Parish Fair Association. As a lifelong member of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church he served on various committees. His zest for life, his love and devotion to his family, friends and community, his outgoing personality and joyful smile and his faithfulness to God will be greatly missed for a very long time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Bogue Falaya Baptist Church, 78689 Hwy 25, Folsom, LA 70437 on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Sunday evening at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and AT CHURCH on Monday beginning at 12:00 noon.
Interment will follow in Bogue Falaya Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bogue Falaya Baptist Church Building Fund, address above.
