Lawrence Maurice Bourgeois' Obituary
Lawrence Maurice Bourgeois passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 74. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus Victor and Huguette Menassade Bourgeois. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Comiskey Bourgeois, his children, Stacy Bourgeois (Mark), Cindi Tranchina (Scott), Juliette Catherine Bourgeois and his siblings, Dr. Robert Bourgeois (Pam), Glenn Bourgeois, William Bourgeois (Stella), Gary Bourgeois, Harry Bourgeois (Darlene) and Linda Bourgeois. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joseph, Colton and Matthew and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Army, and he served during the Vietnam War. When he returned home: he went to Loyola University in New Orleans, LA where he earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree. Lawrence retired as Captain from the New Orleans Police Department after 27 years of service. After retirement, he went to work with the State of Louisiana Probation and Parole as a supervisor. He loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed kayaking and spending time with his family.
The family would like to give special thanks to their niece, Dr. Jacqueline Abadie for all of her care and support.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00am at E J Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA and the visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Interment will be in Southeast Louisianan Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society or St Tammany Parish Animal Services.
