Laverne Francis "Dutch" O'Shea's Obituary
Laverne Francis “Dutch” O’Shea passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home in Mandeville, LA. He was born on November 20, 1925 in Blaine, KS to the late James Stephen O’Shea and Caroline Magnett O’Shea.
Dutch was the beloved companion of Judy Favalora for 17 years. He was the loving father of Patrick S. O’Shea (Tammy), Cathy O. Lapeyrouse (Robbie), Kelly O’Shea- Porcari, Joseph M. O’Shea (Debbie), and John T. O’Shea (Tara). Dutch will be dearly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one older brother, Mag O’Shea. Dutch was preceded in death by 2 older brothers, 3 older sisters, and his wife, Madonna Chaput O’Shea.
Dutch served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to New Orleans in 1963 where he worked on the NASA space program at Boeing followed by a career spent in maritime construction at both Avondale Shipyard and American President Lines. Dutch was a well-known and loved little league coach at the DiBenedetto Playground in New Orleans East.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:30 AM with visitation from 10:30 AM until service time.
