Laurie Denise Morgan Johnson's Obituary
Laurie Denise Morgan Johnson, age 74, of Picayune, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. She was born on March 1, 1951, in Hammond, Louisiana.
She is survived by her children, Renee Johnson Anselmo (Barry), Chadwick Hugh Johnson, and Jared Johnson (Jessica); grandchildren, Justin Anselmo (Marion), Hannah Anselmo Heine (Will), Joseph Johnson (Julia), Anthony Johnson, Makenzie Johnson, Drew Johnson and Reed Johnson; great grandchildren, Oliver James Heine and Lillian Emma Johnson; siblings, Dianne Baham (Jim) and Mary McClain (Stanley); and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Martin Edward Johnson; parents, John Preston Morgan and Rosemary Roubion Morgan; son, Dickey Wayne Johnson; siblings, Johnny Morgan, Michael Morgan; and niece, Jonie Morgan.
Denise, affectionately known as “Denny Bug”, was a living example of faith, selfless love and boundless generosity. Her unwavering devotion to the Lord, her family, and others left an indelible mark on everyone who knew and loved her. Denise endured health issues to ensure that she was with her family as long as possible. She was very thoughtful and had lots of lifelong friends. She was saved at the age of 10 and was committed to the Lord and his church throughout her life. She graduated from Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge before attending Southeastern Louisiana University and then beginning a life of service. Her life’s work in the healthcare field involved working with individuals with mental health challenges and those with special needs. She loved to sing, she loved to cook, and she loved to keep a clean house. Whenever you saw her, she was always smiling and looking her best. Her influence will be felt for generations. Her extraordinary example of a Christian life well lived will never be forgotten. She leaves her family and friends so much to remember.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Johnson may be made to STARC of Louisiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery, 10002 Bennett Cemetery Road, Folsom, Louisiana.
