Laura Denise “DeeDee” Galloway Best, born on June 1, 1953, in Franklinton, La., was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father just after midnight on December 13, 2020.
DeeDee leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband Ross B. Best, two precious daughters Emily Best Schmolke (Jared) and Katy Best Zerr (Delray Hosford); six grandchildren Andrew N. and Tristan R. McLain, Tanner A. Zerr, Taylor L., Riley N., and Lorelei R. Schmolke; two brothers Arthur F. Galloway, Jr. (Joanne), and Archie L. Galloway (Charlotte); and three sisters Kathleen G. Henderson, Edith G. Ballance (Ronnie) and Elizabeth “Beth” Galloway, along with Aunts Elaine C. Rainey and Betty Crockett and Uncle Gilbert Crockett. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her and whom she loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur F. Sr. and Merle C. Galloway, her grandparents Bill and Laura Crockett and Willis and Edith Galloway. Also waiting to greet her in Heaven is a precious niece Michelle Galloway and nephew Michael Galloway, plus many aunts and uncles.
DeeDee was first an adored daughter, then a loving wife and a priceless mother and grandmother. While being the best at all these roles, she also built a 40 plus year career in public service. She was a loyal friend to many and touched the lives of countless others. She was always there with love and a listening ear when comfort was needed. DeeDee was the one to go to when encouragement was essential.
She was the heart and soul of her immediate, as well as extended family. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Her memory will be treasured forever by all who were blessed enough to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, La.
