Kimberly McCracken's Obituary
Kim McCracken passed away after a brief illness on June 5, 2006, at her home in Mandeville. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael J. McCracken, DDS and son, Carson J. McCracken. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Martha Dunaway Whittington. She is survived by her father, Joseph Whittington and her stepmother, Martha Whittington, brother Troy Whittington and his wife, Kandi Whittington. Also survived by loving in-laws Richard and Charlotte McCracken, Tommy and Debbie Discon, Chet and Molly Fenner, Trish McCracken. She was the proud aunt of Tyler and Tori Whittington, Ashlee DeFilippis and husband, Luke, Charlotte, Megan and Marissa Discon and Charlie and Bridget Fenner. Also survived by a host of loving aunts and uncles. She was a treasured and dear friend of many. Kim was born in New Orleans, La. on November 26, 1962. She attended Andrew Jackson High School and continued her education at LSU, where she received her B.S. in medical technology. Kim married her college sweetheart and the love of her life, Mike McCracken, in 1988. They joyfully welcomed Carson into their lives in 1991. Kim and her family are long time residents of Mandeville. She was a dedicated and active supporter of Mary, Queen of Peace School and Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister. She also devoted countless volunteer hours to A Child's Wish, where she assisted families in achieving the dreams of their terminally ill children. She was a board member of the Northlake Women's Tennis League. Kim worked for many years in her husband's dental practice. We have lost a most loving and kind-hearted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her generosity and genuine concern for all those she met has touched all of our lives in ways no words can express. We have all been blessed to have known Kim, and she will forever be remembered as a beautiful gift from God. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 1501 West Causeway Approach, Mandeville, on Friday, June 9, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Father Ronald Calkins.
