Kevin Randyll Thames' Obituary
Kevin Randyll Thames, 58, of Mandeville, LA won his 10-year battle with ALS in the early morning hours of January 31, 2023 when he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Kevin was a loving husband to his wife of 35 years, Julie McDonald Thames, a devoted father to his children, Conner Thames, Tyler Thames, and Anna Kathryn Smith (Dillon) and a faithful son to his mother, Judi James Kramer.
Kevin grew up in Clinton, MS where he met and married his high school sweetheart. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1982 and was a member of the state championship football team. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance from Mississippi State University in 1987, where he was a member of the Gamma Theta Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Kevin and Julie made Mandeville their home in 1993 where he enjoyed a successful career in the restaurant sales and service industry and was also a business owner. Kevin was a member of First Baptist Church Covington and enjoyed his time spent volunteering in the Preschool, Children’s, and Youth ministries. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and dedicated countless hours to coaching and cheering on his children in their many sports activities. He was a Boy Scout Leader as well as a school volunteer where he served in many capacities including founder and president of three athletic booster clubs.
Kevin is survived by his brother, Corey Thames, his stepfather, Jack Kramer, his father in-law and mother in-law, James and Jean McDonald, his brother in-law Jim McDonald (Ann) and his nieces and nephews, Carlee McDonald Soignier (Tyler), Camryn McDonald, Peyton Thames, and Jonathan Thames. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Allen Thames, and his son, Jared Allen Thames as well as his grandparents, Wilmer and Lucille James, and Charlie and Fannie Mae Thames.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at The Chapel of First Baptist Church Covington, 16054 Murphy Road, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433.
