Kennett Brengelman Whelchel's Obituary
Kennett B. Whelchel on February 19, 2010. Beloved wife of Charles M. Whelchel was born in Gadsden, Alabama and was the only daughter of Russell and Jessie McDill Brengelman. She attended Gadsden Business College and worked for the law offices of Summersill and Summersill, Jacksonville North Carolina and Hanby and Stivender in Gadsden, Alabama. She was active in the Parents Association of Clairborne, Capdu, Kennedy and Clifton L. Ganus Schools. She lived in Gentilly Woods for thirty-seven years, moving to Slidell in 1999. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Slidell, LA.
Mrs. Whelchel is survived by her husband of 57 years and her four children, Dayna Balga, Summerville, SC, David Whelchel of Lacombe,LA, Debbie Hocevar and son-in-law, Alexis Hocevar of Covington,LA, Donna Bissel and son-in-law, Todd Bissel of Covington, La. She has seven grandchildren, Mike, Bryan, and Jessica Balga of Summerville, SC, Olivia and Benjamin Hocevar and Mandie and Emily Bissel all of Covington, La., two great grandchildren, Kylie and Preston Balga, and one brother, Russell McDill Brengelman of Morehead, KY.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation on Wednesday will begin at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Kennett be made to American Lung Association, 1-800-LUNGUSA, www.lungusa.org.
