Dr. Kenneth John Lacho's Obituary
Dr. Kenneth John Lacho, at the age of 88, entered eternal rest peacefully on Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2022, at Forest Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 22, 1934, to John Lacho and Elizabeth Miklas Lacho.
He is survived by his loving wife Judith Schoenwalder of 60 years; his children, Kenneth D. Lacho (wife Rose Angelocci) and Kelli Lacho Lundin (husband Michael Lundin); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Lundin, Rebecca Lacho, Michael Lundin II, and Rachel Lacho.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving parents John and Elizabeth Lacho and his brother Dale Lacho.
A native of St. Louis, and resident of Covington for over 17 years, Kenneth graduated from Afton High School, in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Washington University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to Washington University to earn his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Business Administration.
Dr. Kenneth Lacho began his professional career in 1964 as a Professor of Management at the University of New Orleans. Professional achievements included the Seraphia D. Leydia University Teaching Fellow and the Walter J. Boasso Professorship in Entrepreneurship. Other academic honors included being elected as a fellow in the Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Allied Academies’ Academy of Educational Leadership, Creative and Innovation Education Award, U.S. Small Business Administration Raymond Hilgert Lifetime Achievement Award, the U.S. Small Business Administration Vision 2000 Models of Excellence award and being elected as a Louisiana delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business in 1980. Dr. Lacho founded the Entrepreneurship Program at UNO with a grant from the Coleman Foundation. He also taught in the UNO Training, Resource and Assistive Technology Center’s Exceptional Entrepreneurs of Louisiana (ExcEl) Program which helped persons with disabilities to start their own business. He was extremely active in the local business community serving on several Chamber of Commerce committees and the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of New Orleans. He retired in 2021 and was well liked and respected by fellow faculty and students as an outstanding professor. Kenneth was an accomplished runner taking many first place trophies in his age group.
Kenneth and his wife Judith were devoted and active members to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for over 17 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
