Keith Gerard Ponthieux's Obituary
Keith Gerard Ponthieux, age 64, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was born March 5, 1962, in Jefferson, Louisiana.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald J. Ponthieux Sr. and Rosalyn Fay McGee Ponthieux; his siblings, Ronald J. Ponthieux Jr. DVM (Kathy), Michele P. Dugar (Jimmy), Kevin Ponthieux (Diane), and Randy Ponthieux (Jeri Lynn). He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Ally S. Smith, Olivia P. Hebert, Kristen D. Ray, Ethan Dugar, Seth Dugar, Shelby Ponthieux, Georgia Ponthieux, Maddissen Ponthieux, Mia Ponthieux, Tanner Ponthieux, and Gabrielle P. Rooks; and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his niece, Haley Ponthieux; and grandparents, Emile and Ruby Ponthieux, James and Lulu McGee, and Clarence and Mamie Ruddock.
Keith loved animals, especially his dogs. Over his lifetime he loved and cared for 16 dogs. Keith did not know a stranger and was well known throughout Metairie and New Orleans. He was always willing to help anyone in need and had a heart of gold. He had a passion for helping children with disabilities or illness through his charitable events. He also loved speed and motors and enjoyed being with his friends racing monster trucks, speedboats, and the infamous tank, “MAD TRAXX”. Keith will be missed by family and friends.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to his friends who gave their love, time and resources to help him when he became ill, especially Tom Larsen and wife Winnie Raj, and Octave Ferrer.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in memory of his niece Haley Ponthieux.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
