Hi Mom, well I’m going to try this again. I just wrote you an update and then somehow deleted the entire text.

It’s just over 2 months since you transitioned. Some days are definitely easier than others. I still forget that you aren’t just a phone call away. I struggle to remember the sound of your voice or your laughter. Your smile was contagious and your laughter was infectious to all that met you!

Rick, Henry and I went to a Fish fry last night. Being that it was the first Friday of Lent. I do wonder what it’s like in Heaven as we approach celebrations like Easter and Jesus’ birthday. Well we are still dealing with “Social Distancing” due to the pandemic so we actually had to pick the dinners up and we went back to your house to eat. The time we spent together was far better than the Fish! Lol. We shared more stories about you and reminisced about how you loved your collections of things. We looked over some of your collections with pride and laughter for the joy it brought you. Henry showed us the little crystal train set that started the massive crystal collection you have today. It’s funny because the girls were always fascinated by each piece and there we were just as fascinated! Milly even shared a memory not long after you left that she had of Gracey just standing admiring it all as a little girl. Speaking of… my girls aren’t so little anymore. Can you believe Gracey will be 17 in just a few weeks and Chloe will be 13! I’ll never forget that you stayed with me until Gracey was born that night. She sure took her time didn’t she! Please watch over them and keep them out of harms way. It was nice to be able to be close to you while we were there. Henry has you sitting right under the TV so he can watch you all the time. However I guess you already know that!

Well your Celebration party will be less than a month. Henry has been putting a lot of thought into making it a perfect day. Perfect just like you were/are the Perfect partner for him as well as the perfect Mom you were to me. It will be a Crawfish Boil at Amy’s. Speaking of crawfish Henry mentioned he may even eat some crawfish. Please watch over him, I do not want him to have an allergic reaction to them. I’m finally getting some sleep so anytime you want to come visit me in my dreams the door is open…well my mind is open! Well I think you are all caught up for now. I love and miss you so very much Mom.

Hi Babe had a call from Juliana today we had a nice talk. I really like it when they call and let me know what is going on. I really miss you. The house is too quiet and lonely. I am going to the Rickles tomorrow for fried fish. We had a nice late lunch the other day at Garcias. Chimes was out of oysters. Know that I love you and miss you. I hope the Lord has taken you in and is helping you with your transition. I know that Andrea was there to show you the way. Love you Babe, don't forget to save me a place next to you.

Hi Mom! I miss you everyday! It doesn’t seem to get easier. I just keep trying to remember your voice. Most of all I want to never forget the sound of your laugh! Everyone continues to tell us how much of a positive impact you had on their life. Of course I’m not really surprised. You were a very unique person but most of all you were a loving Mom to me. I can’t even see the keys through the tears as I write this to you. Henry and I have gone to a few of you guys favorite places to eat in the last couple weeks. I feel a little closer to you when we go and spend time together. I think he’s the only one that can really relate to the heartache of you not being here physically! Well Rick does that’s for certain as well. We are planning your Celebration of Life party. I think it’s going to be very nice and comforting to gather with those close to you and enjoy Crawfish while remembering you, your unique personality and profound affect you had on all those that you met along your journey! I pray that you are with Andrea, Tammy, Daryl and your parents. As well as all your loved ones that had passed on before you. I am thankful to have had you here with me for 62.5 years. Hi Miss K today has been a challenge for me. Just because I drove by so many places we planned on going together. I got a real nice card from Thelma and Murry talking about when we went up to Montreal to look at the TS they bought. They thanked us for making them want to travel again. I wish we had been able to visit them in Ontario one more time. Babe I miss you and Love you a lot. I hope you are in a happy place with all of our family by your side. Love Me.

Kay and Henry lived across the street from us when we lived in Saudi Arabia in the early 1990s. They were the first people we ever met who deep fried a turkey! (Of course that is a common thing to do now.) I had such fun with Kay - ladies' trips to Al Khobar in the SADAF ladies' bus, card groups, community talent shows, and working on the fourth in a series of cookbooks presented by the SADAF ladies over the years. That cookbook was titled "From the Kitchens of Eastern Arabia" and was published in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, in 1995. Kay also arranged our personal travels and tours. The ladies' trips she arranged were always top-of-the-list fun for everyone. Arriving in Chang Mai in Thailand very late one evening, we pulled out some of the Thai money, bahts, I believe, that we had just gotten at the airport currency exchange shop and handed it to the tuk-tuk driver who took us from the airport to our hotel. We knew we had overpaid him - a lot - by his gleeful laughing as he pedaled away. It was Kay's zest for life and her travel expertise, recommendations, and suggestions that nurtured our love for travel. I'm thinking that Kay has probably convinced the heavenly population that they need a travel agent and that she's just the person they need! Our condolences to Henry and Kay's family and to her many friends from all over the world who are mourning her absence.

Goodmorning Babe, I have been remembering all the great times we spent together. Camping in Mesa Verde on the Gold Wing. Remember the deer eating from our hands and from the pots on our table. Also riding along the waterfront in Petersburgh AK with the Bald Eagle soaring along with us. Tha t was quite spectacular. Those experiences are some of my fondest memories. Remembering is the only thing that helps with the loss. Love you Babe and miss you terribly. We'll talk again soon. Love Me.

Where to begin? Val and I arrived in Saudi Arabia in 94 and were fortunate to meet Kay and Henry. They had a real positive impact on our lives. Kay was a wonderful generous and kind friend. She kept all the holidays on one "Christmas" tree that was decorated for different occasions through the year. I often would stop by for a visit during the day to just say hello and catch up on the Expat telegraph news. Miss K was never one to sugar coat any news or hide an opinion that might sting and we(and the guys in the Navy Det) loved her for it. Her generosity extended to opening her home, arranged a celebrant and getting us married in her front yard in New Orleans (in her words "Y'all need to stop messing around and do this"). Kay's contribution to our lives and happiness goes well beyond what I can put into words. We are less without her.

Happy Birthday Grandma. I miss you so much.
Kensley is being baptized at Saturday mass and I know you & daddy will be watching from above. You are going to be so proud of her grandma, she’s smart just like you. She gives me the cheesiest little smiles just when I need them. Thank you for always being so supportive of me, always having my back, and protecting me. I hope you know even though I didn’t say it a lot I was always so thankful for you.
