Kathy Jo Thompson's Obituary
Kathy Jo Thompson went to be with the Lord after a long battle with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in Folsom, LA at the age of 36. Kathy Jo was born in Covington, LA on December 12, 1985 to Delos Thompson, Jr. and Yundrela Usher Thompson. She was a member of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church.
Kathy Jo is survived by her parents; her brothers, William A. Gager (Nathalia), Delos A. Thompson, III and Daniel A. Thompson (Lyndsey Maginnis); nieces, Isabella Gager, Danielle Thompson and Adalynn Thompson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kathy Jo is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Delos, Sr. and Mary Lou Thompson; maternal grandparents, August and Emma Usher; and uncle, Dennis Thompson.
Kathy Jo graduated from Covington High School in 2004 where she was a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and St. Tammany Parish 4-H clubs. She was a livestock exhibitor from the age of 6 to 18, winning numerous awards, including several Grand Champion awards and the 2004 Premier Exhibitor award. She also served as the Louisiana Junior Jersey Association president.
Kathy Jo went on to graduate from Louisiana State University in 2009 earning a BS in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training. She was inducted into the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was the athletic trainer for the LSU women’s gymnastics and tennis teams, as well as the 2007 LSU Tigers BCS National Championship football team. Geaux Tigers!
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at Bogue Falaya Baptist Church, 78689 Highway 25, Folsom, LA 70437 on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Allison Cemetery, 77075 Sharp Road, Folsom, LA 70437.
