Kathryn Sullivan Zitzmann's Obituary
Kathryn Sullivan Zitzmann passed away on May 9, 2021 in Covington, LA. She was born on August 17, 1948 in El Paso, TX to the late Eugene William Sullivan and Mary Jane Kennedy Sullivan.
Kathy was the beloved wife of Fred “FJ” Zitzmann for 50 years. She was the loving mother of Jennifer Z. Nuccio, Scott E. Zitzmann, Brian J. Zitzmann and Jeffrey E. Zitzmann. Kathy was the proud grandmother of Megan, Jonathan, Owen, Logan, Raine, Emilie, Liam, Ainsley, Andrew, and Madeline. She was the sister of Nancy Mosel, David Sullivan, Carol Casarez, Jan Bostwick, Larry Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Pat Sullivan and Peggy Mauck.
Kathy grew up in El Paso, Texas in a loving family of eleven. After high school, she attended Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans to pursue her passion of nursing. While attending nursing school, she met her husband, Fred, and together they raised four children. She was an NICU nurse for over forty years, working at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans and St. Tammany Parish Hospital, among others.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until Mass time. A WAKE will take place on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Interment will follow the Mass on Friday at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for breast cancer research, www.komen.org.
