Kathleen Margaret "Bell" Valley's Obituary
Kathleen Margaret Bell Valley (fondly known as “Bell”), entered eternal rest on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Bell will be celebrating her 92nd birthday in Heaven in a week. Bell was born in New Orleans on October 9, 1931 to the late Robert Clarence Bell and Zoe Jeanne Becnel.
Beloved wife of the late William Raymond Valley, Jr. and loving mother of Stephen William Valley (Lisa), Jane Valley Tomsic (Mark), and Mitchell William Valley (Robbie). Sister of David Clarence Bell, Jr. (Annette) and the late Robert David Bell, Rita Bell Egle, and Eva Bell Margiotta. Sister-in-law of Dennis Laurent Legendre (Susan). Deeply loved by her seven grandchildren: Tyler James Valley Tomsic, Kelly Tomsic Hocking (Bryan), Deslonde Valley Harvey (Bentley III), Derek John Tomsic, Gregory Shane Valley (Alyssa), William Edward Valley, and Garrett Stephen Valley. Adored by her seven great grandchildren: Skylar, Brock, Millie, Monet, Braelyn, Aspen, and Bentley IV. Loved by her many nieces and nephews.
A native of New Orleans and resident of Covington for 55 years. Bell was first and foremost, devoted to her family and a lifelong devout Catholic. She was actively involved in her Church parish life, first at Our Lady of the Lake then at Most Holy Trinity. She was a Third Order Carmelite and a Benedictine Oblate of St. Joseph’s Abbey. Bell was a tireless, dedicated maker of rosaries that she donated to local churches, schools, organizations, and foreign countries. Bell selflessly gave of herself to anyone in need. She generously offered her love, support, loyalty, and time whenever an opportunity crossed her path.
Bell was a lover of all of God’s creatures and fostered many various types including baby goats, turtles, birds, cats, dogs, and many others. She traveled all over the world on spiritual pilgrimages visiting holy sites. For years, she organized and went on missionary trips to Mexico bringing clothing, blankets, medicine, and other items of need. People who knew Bell were greatly blessed by her kind and loving spirit. She lives on in her family’s hearts and souls and they will honor her by emulating her kindness, compassion, and charitable actions.
The Valley family expresses their deepest gratitude to the devoted nurses and staff at St. Anthony’s Gardens that have cared for her over the past two years. Special recognition and honor are given to Rene Lowder, for whom we are eternally grateful.
The family will begin receiving relatives and friends at 9:00 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2023, at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2600 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana.
