Kathleen M. Stuart's Obituary
Kathleen M. Stuart, age 85, of Covington, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1940 in Grosse Tete, Louisiana.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, David Clayton Stuart; children, David Stuart, Jr. (Debbie), Kelli S. Moore (Patrick), and Barry Stuart (Heather); grandchildren, Anneliese Moore Lorenzo (Simon), Samuel Moore, Mary-Grace Moore; and step grandchildren Lauren Pritchard Reid and Sarah Pritchard Nelson (Trey). She was a doting great-grandmother to Oscar Lorenzo, Hayden and Cullen Reid, and Ava and Axel Nelson. She is also survived by her sister Mattie Lee Persick (Ory) numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bossier Edward Matirne and Mary Edna Blanchard Matirne of Grosse Tete, Louisiana; and siblings Dolores Matirne, Bossier Matirne Jr, Ina Matirne, Linda Matirne, Patsy Ruth Matirne, Donald Matirne, Kendrick Matirne, and Gene Matirne.
Kathleen was a graduate of Shady Grove High School in Rosedale, Louisiana. She lived and worked in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she met her husband, David. Together they raised three children and lived in various states before their retirement. She was a long time parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, Louisiana and brought her children up in her Catholic faith. Kathleen was an avid tennis player in her youth and loved traveling with her husband, playing bridge and other card games and was an avid reader. She loved spending time and taking care of her family, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St Benedict, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
