Katherine (Kay) Wheat Phillippi's Obituary
Katherine (Kate, Kay) Wheat Phillippi passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the age of 97.
Daughter of the late Dena Hebert Wheat and George W. Wheat; sister of the late George W., Jr.
The beloved wife of the late Ralph G. Phillippi, she is survived by her son, Stephen W. Phillippi and his wife, Malvern; four grandchildren: Kathrine M. Phillippi-Falkenstein, Stephen W. Phillippi, Jr., Nicole P. Meyers and Michael L. Phillippi and seven great-grandchildren: Aaron C. Falkenstein, Jonah P., Joshua A., Clare K. and Gianna E. Phillippi, Kameron N. and Zachary D. Meyers.
A native of New Orleans and a resident of Covington for the past 40 years, Kay was executive secretary to the Vice President and General Manager and later the President of Jackson Brewery Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Wharton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Winnie Davis Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy; the Capt. McPherson Chapter of the United Daughters of 1812; and the former Morgan Chapter of the Louisiana Colonials.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial mass on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:30 AM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin at 9:00 AM.
Private family interment services will be held at Metairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Abbey Christian Life Center, 75367 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457.
