Katherine "Kat" Joy Halstead's Obituary
Katherine “Kat” Joy Halstead passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
Beloved daughter of Ronald Halstead, II and Bonnie Toups Halstead; sister of Grant Halstead; granddaughter of Marie Stinson, Ronald Halstead (Kris Lackovich), Ronald Toups and Cindy Toups; Great-granddaughter to Fred and Betty Thompson; Godchild of Aaron Toups and Carla Carr; niece of Melanie Toups, Michelle Stinson and Nikki Halstead. She was also survived by numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Charles Stinson.
Age 17 years, she was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 8 years. An employee of Izzo’s, she was a member of Lee Road Jr. High Band where she received the John Philip Sousa Award and many other awards and the Covington High School Marching Band for 4 years. At Covington High School she was a Band Section Leader, participated in Jazz Band, Talented Music and Tri-M Honor Society.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
A Wake will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM and visitation will resume on Saturday from 7:00 AM until Mass time.
Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave, Gretna, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in Katherine’s Memory to Covington High School Marching Band, c/o Neil Naquin, 73030 Lions Drive, Covington, LA.
