Katherine Louise Oalmann Batty's Obituary
On January 27th, 2023, Katherine Louise Oalmann Batty at 92 years old graduated to her final home with her Savior. She was born on June 8th, 1930 the 6th and final child of Ernest Oalmann and Mathilda Kabel Oalmann. She became the bride of James “Jimmy” Batty of Belize on January 15th, 1949. Together they had 6 children: Gwen Batty Beter, Debbie Batty, James “Rusty” Batty Jr., Babs Batty Stone, Brenda Batty Blow, and Rhonda Batty. They were also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Lou was a native of Waldheim; she graduated from Covington High School in 1947. Throughout her life she was known by many names, Katie Lou, Louise, Aunt Lou, and Grandma Lou, and she had many roles, all of which centered around a love of Christ and a love of people. She worked as a telephone operator, receptionist, retail clothing associate, and owner of A-OK Ranch daycare.
Her relationship with Christ started as a teenager and never stopped. She led, taught, and sang with many children as a Sunday school teacher, children’s church leader, and a choir director at Landmark Church of God. She continued using her singing abilities in the Young at Heart choir at First Baptist Church of Covington.
Lou was a devoted mother, and her children and her community adored her. She will be met in heaven by her beloved husband, Jimmy, her parents, and her siblings, Herbie Oalmann, Thelma “Sis” Oalmann Spears, Vera Oalmann Miley, Roy “Buster” Oalmann and Edgar Oalmann.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Trace Assisted Living and Passages Hospice who cared for her so lovingly during her lengthy illness.
