June Laine Erwin's Obituary
June Laine Erwin passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 88 years of age. Beloved wife of fifty-three years to the late Dr. William Jenkins Erwin. Wife, mother, aunt, and dear friend to many. A native of New Orleans, LA, a long-time resident of Monroe, LA, she has resided in Covington for the past 15 years.
June attended High School at Eleanor McMain and earned her nursing degree from the Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans. June had worked for many years for Children’s Hospital and in several specialty clinics including Ophthalmology and her husband’s Psychiatric practice.
She was a past member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe and was recently attending Covington Presbyterian Church. She was a member of several organizations including PEO and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A fabulous hostess, she enjoyed preparing elaborate dinners for several gourmet clubs. She enjoyed being in the Opera Club at Christwood and had a passion for painting and crafting which she passed along to her family and friends. Although she had traveled extensively, she treasured her summer vacations with her family at Navarre beach the most. Perhaps more than anything, June enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Jenkins Erwin, her parents, Jules Laine and Grace Burton Laine, her twin brother Jules “Bub” Laine (Margaret), and her older brother, Rev. Sam Laine (Rebecca).
She is survived by her sons, Dr. William Alan Erwin (Gretchen) and Dr. Kevin G. Erwin (Tina), and her grandchildren, Megan Erwin, Madeline Erwin-Meyers (Nicholas), and Avery Clayton Erwin.
The interment will be private in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

A reception celebrating her life will be held in the Garden Room at Christwood Retirement Community, 100 Christwood Blvd, Covington, LA on November 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. All who knew her are invited to attend.
