June Blanchard's Obituary
June Busby Blanchard, 92, of Bush, Louisiana, was born on June 14, 1932, and passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving children: Nancy Breaux (Rick), Renée Hebert (Gary), Lisa Revere (Philip), and John R. Blanchard, Jr. (Susan). She was a devoted grandmother to Melissa, Lauren, Justin, Jamie, Leslie, Preston, Olivia, Jonathan, Jessica, Wendy, Matthew, Claire, and Alyiah, and a proud great-grandmother to 28 great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, John R. Blanchard, Sr.; her parents, Chester and Julia Busby; her brother, Wesley Busby; and her grandchildren, Lindsey Hataway, Richard and Randolph Kysar, and David Gates.
In the summer of 1948, June volunteered as a candy striper at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, where she met Johnny, a young sailor donating blood for “A Day of Liberty.” They married on June 16, 1950, and dedicated their life to serving others, whether through their church, community, or family. Their selfless acts of service were a true reflection of Christ’s love. June and Johnny felt compelled to foster their adult grandchildren's understanding and relationship with God by leading them through "The Purpose Driven Life" series weekly in their home. This is a cherished memory among those grandchildren, as it led most of them to further commit their life to following Jesus Christ.
As we bid farewell, we find comfort in the knowledge that June and Johnny have reunited and are now experiencing the Joy and Peace that they often spoke of in life. June leaves a legacy of faith, love, forgiveness, respect, compassion, and service that will forever inspire and guide us.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
