Julia S. Sander's Obituary
Julia Schlenker Sander passed away on Friday May 24, 2019.
She was born on December 17, 1922 in Bush, La. to Andrew Schlenker of Germany and Hermine (Luprich) Schlenker of Hungary.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert P. Sander, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. Joseph Schlenker, John (Nora) Schlenker, Will (Alice) Schlenker and Mary (Robert) Schlenker Jenkins. Also a niece Sylvia Jean Jenkins and nephews Ronald Jenkins, Joel Jenkins and Andrew Schlenker.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Known to almost all as “Aunt Julie”, she grew up in Bush moving to Covington as a teenager and graduating Lyon High, now Covington High, in 1940.
She was known by many around town, frequently saying she went to school with this one or that one or grew up with them in Bush.
Aunt Julie was always willing to help not only family, but also friends and even strangers. There was always a drink or snack available for all and many a game of ball was played on their lot.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Private interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Sander may be made to the Northshore Humane Society.
